Mum’s Savoury Beef Mince

For a quick and easy dish you can’t go wrong with this… beef mince recipe works a treat. It uses only a few ingredients that you will have in your cupboard. When I make this dish I always think of my mum as this was one of her signature recipes that she would make for us and serve it just on toast. I made it today and used it as a filling in Boxty potato pancakes. You can also use it to make jaffles. Enjoy it anyway you want.

Ingredients

  • 600g Beef Mince
  • 1tbs Rapeseed Oil or Olive Oil
  • 1 Large Onion, chopped
  • 3tbs Chutney, Mrs Balls or Mango Chutney or any chutney you like
  • 3tbs Tomato Sauce, All Gold or Heinz works well
  • 1tbs Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1tbs Bisto
  • 1/2 cup Boiling water
  • Salt and Pepper Optional

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan on medium heat and saute the onions until soft.
  2. Add the beef mince and fry until browned
  3. Now add the chutney, tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce to the mince and stir through.
  4. Add the Bisto and boiling water and stir until it thickens
  5. Check the seasoning
  6. Enjoy on toast or like I do in a Boxty Potato Pancake.
