This month is my birthday month and as everyone one knows I love cheese and I am not a big fan of cake but this cake I love. My grand mother always made this for us especially on a Sunday afternoon. The smell coming out of the kitchen when this cake was done is indescribable. The sweet and salty combination is so weird and wacky but so good and the best is that this cake you must eat warm. So enjoy it as soon as it is ready.
Ingredients
- 85g Unsalted Butter, softened
- ¾ c Sugar
- 1 Egg, lightly beaten
- 1 c Milk
- 1 ½ c Plain Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tsp Marmite mixed with ½ c Butter and melted
- ½ – 1 cup Cheddar cheese, finely grated
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Butter a baking dish well
- Cream the butte and sugar together in your mixer
- Add the egg mix well and then add the milk.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together and add to the butter mix. Mix well.
- Pour in baking dish and bake for 50 minutes or until your cake tester comes out clean.
- Take the cake out of the oven and with a skewer or toothpick poke some holes in the cake.
- Slowly pour the melted marmite butter over the warm cake. Best to use a spoon to do that and make sure it soaks in.
- Top the cake with the grated cheese.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
